Covid 19: US records highest number of cases, Spain may be next Italy Washington The United States of America became the country with the highest number of positive Coronavirus patients even as New York remains the hotspot for the virus in the country. In the US alone, more than 2,15,000 people have been tested positive and more than 4,500 have succumbed to the virus. Globally, more than 940,000 cases of the novel coronavirus and more than 47,000 deaths have been reported so far. Three new countries/territories/areas have reported the advent of Coronavirus since the WHO's previous update, namely, Botswana, Burundi, and Sierra Leone. Also, France became the fourth country whose death toll has crossed 4,000, after Italy, Spain and the US. While Italy has been grappling with the virus with more than 110,000 cases and more than 13,000 deaths, Spain too is becoming a hotbed for the virus. In Spain, more than 100,000 people have already been tested positive while the country reported a death toll of more than 9,000. Though Germany has reported more positive cases, its death toll is still not more than 1,000. France, on the other hand, has reported more than 4,000 deaths with around 56,000 positive cases.
