After a humiliating defeat in Mumbai at the hands of Australia, the Indian team avenged the loss in Bengaluru by defeating Aussies and winning the series as well. The Indian team won the match by seven wickets. Australia batted first to set a target of 287 for the hosts. Steve Smith scored 131 before being dismissed by Mohammed Shami. The latter picked up four wickets while conceding 63 runs. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli set India on the path to victory, scoring 119 and 89 respectively. The duo also reached significant milestones in their careers during the match. It was Sharma’s 29th century. He was also adjudged as the Man of the Match while Kohli took Man of the Series trophy. The Indian team is now facing New Zealand.
