Book lovers around the world look forward to this one award. The list for Man Booker Prize 2019 is out and six out of 13 authors have already been shortlisted for the final round. There were famous authors and even Nobel laureates in the list. But the most extraordinary book is by author, Lucy Ellmann. Ducks, Newburyport is the Edinburgh-based writer’s eighth novel and consists of a single sentence that runs over 1,000 pages. Yes, the book has only ONE sentence! In total, it’s a 426,100-word sentence—readers get several brief respites from the protagonist’s inner monologue with a parallel story, told from the perspective of a mountain lioness. The other popular authors in the list are Margaret Atwood, Salman Rushdie, Bernardine Evaristo and Elif Shafak. The winner would be announced next month. So, keep a watch on this space. Fun fact Marienbad My Love by Mark Leach is supposedly the world's longest published novel in English at 2.5 million words! Have time, would read.
