Art column: What’s Covid Cellection? Art World Kinjal Trivedi Covid Collection is the new trend among art collectors! During the peak of the pandemic when the world was locked in their homes, all of us got a breather from chasing the day to day life and taking a look at our passions and hobbies. We read new books, practiced our craft or just understood what we like to do in our free time. Some of the high net collectors got a chance to pursue their passion in collecting high worth of artwork. This pandemic did see sales of high end paintings and sculptures by existing and established artists. With the plans of upcoming museums, private collectors were keeping an eye on the placement of the finest work and selling their prized possessions. Instead of travelling to see the paintings or sculpture, people relied on their judgement to foresee the sentiment behind the piece. Paintings by Leonardo da Vinci, V S Gaitonde and other legends were sold at skyrocketing prices but even pop art and contemporary art saw a good upward rise. Covid Collecting seems to be well thought out purchases and not one of herd mentality. Isn't it good to see more art being turned around to keep the investments high and the sentiments of the Art Business up!
