Cricket: India win New Zealand series even before it’s over

| Read time: 2 minute(s)

It could have left on a cliffhanger, but thanks to detailed bowling by Mohammed Shami and confident batting by Rohit Sharma, India win their T20 International ODI series against New Zealand downunder. There are still two matches to go to for the series to end, but the winner is out, as India won all the first three matches. The third ODI finished with super over where India had to score 17 runs to win the match. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul were on the crease. In the first four overs, India could make only 8 runs and it was obvious that the match was lost. But Sharma hit two consecutive sixes in the last two balls and helped India clinch the series. In the process, India created a new record - 20 runs for no loss are the most runs scored by a chasing side in the super over in T20I history. They went past West Indies who smashed 19 for no loss against New Zealand back in 2012.
