Do you know Beyoncé?
We all know that Beyoncé is a powerhouse of talent. She can perfect harmonies, she can sing to mountains and they would swing. But other than her magical vocal range, the diva also has a kind heart.
Since 4 September marks her birthday, let’s break down the lesser known facts of Queen B that make her a multi-talented being!
Charity work is monumental to her
In 2005, Beyonce, with fellow bandmate Kelly Rowland, established a foundation for victims of natural disasters. Today, she runs her own foundation known as “Beygood” to help collect money for victims of the earthquakes in Nepal.
Her entire salary earned from the movie “Cadillac Records” was donated to charity. Further, she’s raised a whopping amount of money to set up apartments, host food drives or hand out school supplies for the underprivileged. The inspirational superstar has also used this money to stand up and fight for gender equality.
Queen B can “see” music
Sounds cool, huh? Beyonce has admitted how music is more than what meets the ear for her. She explains that music is not just hearing and sound.
When she listens to a song, she is gifted with a set of visuals and images that play in her mind just like a film. These include memories from her childhood, fantasies, other worldly things or simply life thoughts.
She even sings opera
We already know Beyonce has an impeccable vocal range that can give anyone goosebumps. But a lesser known facts about this dazzling diva is that her vocal range spans 3.6 octaves which classifies as mezzo-soprano.
She wrote a song in just TWO HOURS
A track that skyrocketed all around the world was Beyonce’s bouncy “Crazy In Love”. It was initially written by US record producer Rich Harrison who saw his version and his rhythmic beats of the song as a success but others didn’t seem to be impressed, including Queen B.
That’s when she stepped up to the play and asked Harrison to give her two hours so that she could remold the entire song, and she did!
Running while singing doesn’t tire her out
That’s right, and Beyonce has her father to thank for this skill! When she was young, Beyonce’s father made B and her girl-gang run around and sing at the same time. Thinking ahead of time, the motive behind this was so that she wouldn’t get exhausted easily while performing on stage.
She has a fiery alter ego
The beautiful superstar has her very own alter ego on stage known as “Sasha Fierce”. And like we’ve all witnessed – she’s mighty fierce!
Beyonce has even mentioned in several interviews how her other persona is aggressive, alpha, sexy and to be taken seriously!
The Queen of Twitter
Beyonce’s performance at the 2013 Super Bowl was so impressive, it left people from all around the world awestruck. So much so that it resulted in 268,000 tweets per minute!
This jaw dropping revelation runs as the second most tweeted moment of Twitter record history. The number one tweeted event however comes from the televised showing of the anime movie “Castle In The Sky” which darted out 25,088 tweets in a single second!
She’s got other things up her sleeve
Did you know that Beyonce has always been inspired by painting and pursued this hobby at the age of 17? She mentions how she’s been moved by the works of Vincent Van Gogh and since then tried to incorporate his style in her own work.
The acclaimed beauty also has a live band that has stuck with her since the year 2006. What makes this even more special is that it is an all-woman bandwagon.
They call themselves “The Suga Mama’s” and are a powerful clan of 10 that are making their mark for women empowerment all the way!
