Drone attacks on Saudi oil units
Two oil facilities in Saudi Arabia were targeted by 10 unmanned drones last week. The coordinated attacks were carried by Yemen’s Houthi rebels who targeted state-owned Saudi Aramco oil facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais.
Saudi Arabia is a major supplier of oil to the world. With these attacks, 5% of world oil demands would be affected.
The latest Oil Agency figures put total Saudi production at 9.8 million (Rs98 lakh) barrels per day. Out of this, 5.7 million (Rs57 lakh) barrels a day of crude oil and gas production have been affected. Saudi Arabia produces approximately 10% of the total global oil supply.
The West Asian country suspects that Iran helped the Houthi rebels by supplying them arms and ammunitions, and money.
