Girl reads stories online to soothe other kids London Empathy comes in all shapes and sizes. It doesn’t matter what age you’re, you can help if you have a will. A nine-year-old girl has started a YouTube channel where she reads to other children because she 'wants to keep them happy' during coronavirus lockdown. Schoolgirl Lois Russell is an enthusiastic and confident reader - and wanted to give kids something to do to stop them from getting bored while stuck at home. As Lois was missing school, she realised that other kids must be feeling the same. Though she started it with FaceTime, positive reviews made her mum realise that they could reach a wider audience by a YouTube channel. She is reading five stories a day now. She is coming more and more into her stride and wants to record her videos all the time at the moment. Lois is her own director for the videos, taking into account the different backgrounds and settings, her outfits - and even her hairstyles. She loves the Harry Potter series but she targets a younger audience when selecting books for her videos.
