Meet India’s first female tribal pilot
Bhubaneswar
If you are passionate about your dreams, the sky is not a limit. Something similar happened for Anupriya Madhumita Lakra.
The 27-year-old from Maoist-affected district of Malkangiri in Odisha has become the first female pilot from the tribal community. It’s a big feat keeping in mind the limitations the area faces.
She will join Indigo Airlines as a co-pilot sometime later this month.
The brilliant student always wanted to become a pilot and to pursue this dream she left engineering college and took admission at the Government Aviation Training Institute (GATI), Bhubaneswar. It wasn’t an easy ride as she comes from a humble background. Her father is a police constable, so they had to take a loan for her education. Today, the hard work has borne fruit with even the chief minister of the state Neveen Patnaik congratulating the youngster.
