Messi’s last minute goals save Barca in Copa Granada Initially, it seemed Barca fans were in for a disappointment as they thought that this year too the football team would exit Le Copa without even entering the quarter finals. Granada already had scored 2 goals and Barcelona with nil goals in the first 88 minutes of the match. Then Messi happened, and the destiny changed! Lionel Messi played a cross to Antoine Griezmann who hit the goal. And just like that, Barcelona was back in the game! Messi then made a pass to Jordi Alba who scored the second goal for the team. Extra time let the score reach 5-3 and Barca beat Granada by two goals. Barcelona had failed to win a title last season, which hadn’t happened since 2007-2008. It was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Copa last year to end a streak of nine consecutive semi final appearances. Granada’s late collapse cost the team a chance to make it to the semifinals for a second straight season. The most successful club at the Copa del Rey has been Barcelona with 30 titles. The current champions are Valencia who have 8 titles to their credit. Did you know?
