No doubt, teachers, parents and academicians all over are trying so hard to make the childhood right for youngsters. For more than 70 years, Mr Potato Head has been one of the favourites for many toddlers. The spud, which comes with separate facial features, has also featured in the film Toy Story and its sequels. Many times Mr and Mrs Potato Head are the first educational toys for a baby. But the company now wants to make it more gender-neutral. Mr Potato Head wouldn’t be called Mr anymore, only Potato Head. Hasbro, the company that makes the potato-shaped plastic toy, clarified that it would come with a new line of toys now. With changing times, no wonder the toy makers are going for a revamp to appeal more to the kids, and the parents. Barbie has shed its blonde image and now comes in multiple skin tones and body shapes. Thomas the Tank Engine added more girl characters. And American Girl is now selling a boy doll. Fun fact The original Mr Potato Head toy consisted only of body parts including eyes, ears, a nose and a mouth. The parents had to supply real potatoes or any other kind of vegetable to their children to complete the toy figure. This, however, changed in the early 1960s when the toy manufacturer started including a hard plastic potato body, which replaced the need to attach a real potato.
