T-Swift got the ball rolling

Love-Birds performed
“Senorita” by Shawn Mendez and Camila Cabello has been a catchy romantic hit that has stuck like glue on the billboard top charts for months on end. In saying that, with a song so high in demand, it was a bona fide reason to bring it to the VMA’s.

The moment has come
Missy Elliot graced the room both with her voice and her presence. She delivered some of her finest hits, belting out high notes, singing her classics and pulling out her best dance moves that made for great television.

Kings and Queens on stage
To present the award for the Video Of The Year, Queen Latifah and John Travolta made their way on stage. Queen L looked fashionably appealing and on point in an eye catching neon orange suit while Travolta too, looked suave in his velvety blue suit.
T-Swift all the way...
As for the winner, everyone’s favourite Tay-Tay made her way on stage to receive the ultimate award of the night. But she did not take to the stage alone. Known for doing things in a notably grand style, Swift seized her “Video Of The Year” moment by bringing her entire posse on stage along with her!

But what about Song Of The Year?
All dressed in red, Lil Nas X won his first ever VMA title and it was for “Song Of The Year”. His number “Old Town” beat hot tracks by some of his stiff competitors like Ariana Grande, Drake, Lady Gaga and more. Also, the young rapper has been nominated for a whooping 9 awards in one single VMA!

Miley’s monochrome tunes
Another highlight of the night was when lights turned grey as Miley Cyrus rendered an emotion filled performance of her new breakup song “Slide Away” that struck a chord with the audience and the internet at large.

Not just musicians
That’s right - Ashlyn Harris, Ali Krieger and Alex Morgan of the US Women’s Soccer Team also made their presence to the event. They even graced the stage to hand over the award for “Best Collaboration”. But that’s not all!
The famous “sipping tea” goal celebration move that soccer fans seem to love – the one which Morgan enacted during the semifinals match against England was recreated live on stage at the VMA’s, driving the crowd in a frenzy!
A fun-filled finale
The night ended with an energy packed and bouncy string of performances by New Jersey natives Queen Latifah, Naughty by Nature, Redman, Fetty Wap, and Wyclef Jean and it could not have gone any better!
