Sarah Thomas makes history!
London
Love swimming? But what about swimming continuously for two days? Can’t even imagine doing that, can you? Well, someone has done that and made history!
America's Sarah Thomas has become the first person to swim the English Channel four times non-stop. The ultra-marathon runner achieved the feat by finishing the 215-km challenge in 54 hours and 13 minutes.
Only four swimmers had previously crossed the English Channel three times without stopping.
Thomas completed her first open-water event in 2007 – a 10km swim in her home state of Colorado – and went on to become the overall champion of the race. In 2016, she also set a distance record of 128.7km in 56 hours, non-stop, across Lake Powell in the US.

Sai (PLEASE CHECK IF WE CAN CARRY THIS)
She was diagnosed with cancer and in 2017 but fought the disease with her will and now stands tall with a world record. Congratulations Ms Thomas. Keep us inspiring.
Fun fact
The first person to successfully make a solo swim all the way across the English Channel was Captain Matthew Webb in the year 1875. The swim took a total of 21 hours and 45 minutes. During the swim Captain webb was stung by jellyfish all the while fighting against strong currents.
