Sundar Pichai is CEO of Google’s parent company
Sundar Pichai has been heading Google since 2015, but now he would also be the boss at its parent company. Pichai has been named the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Alphabet, which owns Google, and was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
Both Page and Brin would be associated with Alphabet but would not work on day-to-day basis.
Pichai, whose full name is Pichai Sundararajan, was born in Madurai to a middle class parents. His father was an electrical engineer and mother was a stenographer. They lived in their 2-room flat in Chennai.
He studied in IIT Kharagpur and later went to Stanford University on a scholarship. He also attended Wharton School for his MBA.
He joined Google in 2004, and worked on the development of Chrome browser and Android phones. He was also offered jobs by Microsoft and Twitter but the 47-year-old techie has till date stayed with Google.
Pichai met his future wife Anjali in IIT Kharagpur. He also once got C in one of his papers but got over it by saying grades aren’t everything.
