The walls around us! Washington Walls are everywhere. They make our houses stand straight, they save us from the truant weather and don’t you love hiding behind a wall in the game of hide-and-seek? But walls are not just limited to our society compounds and school buildings. Donald Trump had announced to build a wall between the US and Mexican border when he became the president of the USA. The American president doesn’t want unwanted immigrants to come into his country without permission. And a lot of Mexicans enter the US through porous borders. The wall work is on the way and it may be completed before the end of Trump’s term. He also says that double-layer protective wall with high-tech security devices and cameras will make crossing into the United States difficult. The Berlin Wall The Berlin Wall was erected in 1961 dividing communist East Germany from the democratic Western side. But in 1989, after years of protests, the wall came down. The "fall of the Berlin Wall" led to a reunified Germany on October 3, 1990. The Great Wall of China More than 2,000-year-old the Great Wall of China was originally built to prevent incursions by nomads. This 21,000 km long wall was built by more than one million workers in the Third Century BC and today attracts millions of tourists to China. Israel-West Bank Wall Israel constructed more than 600 km wall in the West Bank in 2002 after a wave of attacks by Palestinian insurgents. The Palestinians have now and again criticised the wall. India-Bangladesh, India-Pakistan Not exactly a wall, but India and Bangladesh divide their lands with barbed wires stretching up to 27,000 km. This is to prevent the infiltration of illegal immigrants into the country. India also has almost 700 km of fencing on the border with Pakistan, also called Line of Control, to prevent militants entering the Kashmir Valley. North and South Korean Wall North and South Korea have a wall in between them. The wall is not only the remnant of Cold War but also prevents citizens to cross national lands.
