Slug Book review This Wimpy Kid adventure is one of the best! When Jeff Kinney wrote The Diary Of A Wimpy Kid in 2007, little must he have imagined about its popularity. The book not only became a bestseller but also got 14 sequels, TV series, movies and many spin offs. Jeff mostly only wrote about the Wimpy Kid, Greg Heffley, and his life. And yes there was his best friend, the sweet gullible Rowley Jefferson, who sticks to Greg no matter what. Though his parents hardly approve of Greg, Rowley is never the one to leave his friend’s side. Together the boys have some amazing life adventures, of which we readers are also a part. Now Rowley has decided to write his own adventure story, with a lot of (negative) inputs from Greg. In Rowley Jefferson’s Awesome Friendly Adventure Rowley decides to write a book just for himself, about a character named Roland. Roland is a very good boy who tries to please his parents by practising his flute and staying indoors at night to be safe. Roland practices kindness and is a considerate child. Rowley shows his mum the first chapter and she is very encouraging. Of course, Greg is not amused! But ultimately, the two friends decide that while Greg can handle all the business deals, Rowell will concentrate on writing the book. The adventure story is as sweet as Rowley’s imagination, and we find many characters like Medusa, Sherlock Holmes and Santa Claus in the book. It’s a fun read as Kinney puts in a lot of humour, not to mention his free flowing writing style. If you’re a Wimpy Kid fan, you can’t let go this spin off. If you haven’t read a Wimpy Kid before, picking this one may come as a fresh start. Title: Rowley Jefferson's Awesome Friendly Adventure Author: Jeff Kinney Publisher: Penguin Random House
