Toy Story 4 brings 10ths Oscar to Pixar
The fans of Toy Story are in for a cheer. “Toy Story 4” has won the Academy Award for best animated feature film for Josh Cooley, Mark Nielsen and Jonas Rivera — a decade after “Toy Story 3” took the prize.
It’s the 10th Pixar title to take an Oscar since the category was created in 2001.
The movie, with voice cast of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, is a much loved film across generations now. “Toy Story” was one of three front runners headed into Oscar weekend alongside “Missing Link,” which won the Golden Globe in January, and “Klaus,” which took home the BAFTA for best animated feature film.
This year the Academy surprised the world by giving the Best Picture Award to a non-English film. South Korea’s “Parasite” won four Oscars including the Best Film in Foreign Category and Best Director. While Rene Zellenger and Joaquin Phoenix won the Best Actress and Actor trophies respectively, Brad Pitt too picked his first Oscar for his supporting act in “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood”. Laura Dern won the Best Supporting Actress Award for her role in “A Marriage Story”.
