US President Donald Trump impeached

| Read time: 2 minute(s)

The House of Representatives voted to impeach US President Donald Trump for misuse of power. The 45th president of the United States, Trump is only the third president to be impeached. Andrew Johnson in 1868 and Bill Clinton in 1998 were both impeached, while Richard Nixon resigned before he could be impeached in 1974. The House voted on Trump for two charges - that the president abused his power and that he had obstructed Congress. It is alleged that Trump asked Ukraine to find stuff about Joe Biden that may affect him badly for the next presidential elections. Biden is a strong Democrat contender against Republican Trump. The trial on removing Trump from office will now move to the Senate. Republicans hold a solid majority so they will not vote against Trump, and Trump is expected to stay in office till his tenure expires.
