Venice is flooded
If you’re planning for a Venician holiday, this is not the right time. The city has seen three deluges in one week and is still flooded.
The scenes at famous St. Mark’s Square were miserable. Tourists were seen in high rubber boots carrying their luggage around, and many wanted to leave the city ASAP. The shops and stores are affected, and so are the houses.
Venice’s Tide Office said the peak tide of 1.5 meters (nearly 5 feet) hit just after 1 p.m. but a weather front off the coast blocked southerly winds from the Adriatic Sea from pushing the tide to the predicted level of 1.6 meters (5 feet, 2 inches).
Global warming and environmental pollution are affecting cities all over the world, Venice is just one of them.
