Art Profile: Meet Amrita Sequeira This week Amrita Shares her artwork with us and what motivates her. 1/ Your medium of art and what techniques do you focus on Ans: Acrylics & Knife Painting, Organic Pigment Painting, Dot Mandalas, Watercolours, Sketching & Shading basically i am a Jack-of-all kinda person. Mostly all my art is mood driven, and i never fight it which means that i go with the flow of my mood and select the techniques and art form that attracts me at that moment. 2/ What inspires you? Ans: Anything & everything could potentially inspire me creatively. Sometimes its something that someone says, or sometimes its something is see. Inspiration comes even from nostalgia, through music and dance, through a fragrance or taste and alot by nature! Inspiration is everywhere! The mind is always trying to connect dots and make sense of puzzles to get the satisfaction of solving and discovering something new, intriguing and interesting. 3/ How do you grow/evolve as an artist? Ans: Consistency and originality! Be persistent and true to yourself. Just like honesty is the best policy...Growth as an artist will happen only when one follows the originality path, diligently. 4/ What do you achieve by creating art? Ans: Expression, peace of mind and a satisfaction of self worth. 5/ Your message for children who would like to express their thoughts through art? Ans: Create EVERYDAY! Wether it is a drawing or a doodle, or a blob of paint, or even just an origami animal...create with your hands! Lets your mind and hands be in sync with each other. This is your non linguistic expression! Allow yourself mistakes, allow silliness and pointless art also...but create! Let yourself flow on paper, canvas or clay and see how inspiring, relaxing and therapeutic it is! Be true to YOURSELF! If someone dictates how you “SHOULD” draw or paint, smile internally. Your imagination is unique unlike theirs and thats what sets you apart. Draw what your feelings allow you to, paint how you want things to be. Have courage to leave the rat-race and create something no one else has ever dared to...then in the true sense you will create a masterpiece!
