India has crossed 50,000 positive cases, situation grim
Amidst fear and caution, the Indian government decided to relax lockdown in a few zones of the country even as the positive cases crossed 50,000.
The country is divided into three zones — Green, Orange and Red — according to the severity of the situation in these areas. For example, the more the number of cases, the scale tilts towards red. Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Jaipur are all in Red Zone. Lockdown is relaxed, as in offices have started working and shops have reopened in Green zone, though not fully.
India also achieved success of sorts when an institute in Pune manufactured 2,00,000 protection kits for doctors in a week.
However, this doesn’t mean the scare is any less. India has registered more than 1,700 deaths. Maharashtra is still leading with more than 15,000 case, out of which 10,000 are in Mumbai alone.
States like Telangana, Punjab, Andhra have already extended the lockdown for the whole month of May.
