Indian wrestlers pull best-ever haul India finished its run at World Wrestling Championship in Kazakhstan with its best-ever performance of five medals — one silver and four bronze. Deepak Punia had to settle for silver after he pulled out of his title due to an ankle injury that he sustained during his semifinal bout. Deepak is the fourth Indian wrestler to secure his place at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The other Indian medal winners at the World Wrestling Championships 2019 included Bajrang Punia, Ravi Dahiya and Vinesh Phogat, who all secured a bronze medal each. Four Indians have now qualified for the 2020 Olympics in their respective weight categories and they include Vinesh Phogat, Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Bajrang Punia and Deepak Punia. Iran got the highest number of medals with 11 gold and six bronzes. Did you know Two-time Olympic medal winner Sushil Kumar is currently the only Indian to have won a gold medal at the World Championships. He won gold in the 2010 edition.
