Kids+Parents= Family movies
We all like a cuddle, a warm glass of chocolate milk, some popcorn or maybe a slip into fuzzy socks… oh wait, it’s movie night we’re talking about. Yes, Disney Plus Hotstar has a lot of good movies in case you cubs want to enjoy a movie or two (or more) with your mum and dad!
The Lion King
Yes, we know you have watched the all new live animation Lion King but do sit with your mummies and watch the original. Trust us, it’s loads of fun! A classic tale of redemption that has fantastic music and a killer voice cast. And if you sleep late, Hakuna Matata!
The Parent Trap
Twin sisters—both played by Lindsay Lohan—try to reunite their divorced parents. Funny, sweet and full of action—it’s a family drama that’s just right for when you want to park yourself on the couch with your kids with some popcorn.
The movie has barely any dialogues, but it will still make you feel every emotion with its unforgettable visuals. The film which topped the list of Time’s Best Films of the Decade for the 2000s, is the tale of a robot that was sent to Earth to clean up after humans. In the process of managing the waste, he meets Eve, another robot, who he falls in love with. Together, they set out on a journey that will alter the fate of mankind.
Set in the winters, a dogsled trainer (Willian Dafoe) and his lead sled dog, Togo, embark on a humane journey across the miles to a small town of Alaska to transport an antitoxin serum, to help children who have been dying due to diphtheria outbreak. This emotional and humane film becomes more amazing when you realise that it’s based on a true story.
The Hunchback of Notre-Dame
Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame is the tale of the deformed bell-ringer of Notre Dame, Quasimodo, and his struggles against society’s callous indifference. Though the film waters down many elements of the original novel, it remains one of Disney’s darkest animated features.
Magic, fun and romance… what a great combination. The original film had it all: great music, voice overs from the likes of Robin Williams, and beautiful hand drawn compositions. It’s a tale of adventure, romance, action and of course, magic.
Ian and Barley, two elves, live with their mother in a fantasy world. Just before Ian’s birthday, the elves get a wizard that can bring their dead father back for 24 hours. They start this journey which is full of love, emotions, frantic actions, and adventure.
The Lady and the Tramp
The Lady and the Tramp revolves around a romantic relationship between a female American Cocker Spaniel named Lady who lives with a refined, upper-middle-class family and a male stray mutt called Tramp. The film got a live-action treatment for Disney+, but the original feature is still the real deal.
Alice in the Wonderland
Based on Lewis Carroll’s fantasy book for kids, Alice in Wonderland follows Alice’s adventures inside a subterranean fantasy world (which she falls into by way of a rabbit hole) filled with weird, anthropomorphic animals.
The Jungle Book
Yes, you have seen many versions of this but what about the original? The Jungle Book follows Mowgli, an orphaned boy raised in the Indian jungle by wolves. While since its first release the movie has found fresh lease in the live action remake, but for this trip down memory lane, we suggest watching the old school animated crew including Bagheera the panther, Baloo the bear, and the evil tiger, Shere Khan.
