Movie review Charming A cute take on many fairy tales We have grown up reading about girls in trouble, damsels in distress, only to be saved by that one man who would come and kiss them with true love… but times have changed. And we don’t want to be that hapless damsel anymore. Girls today know their worth and also understand that love at first sight may not last for even another fight sights (seeings). Well, Charming is that adorable take on the fairy tales which are not relevant anymore but still are dear to our hearts. What if the damsel in distress is the saviour and the Prince Charming is the one who needs to be saved? Prince Phillipe Charming has it all. The young prince is engaged to be married to, hold it, Cinderella , Sleeping Beauty and Snow White, all dames he met while saving them in the ways we now know by heart; with a glass slipper, and a kiss or two. All three princesses seem to think they’ve gotten their happily ever after. Phillipe hasn’t quite figured out how he’s going to deal with this mess, and on top of everything else, he’s been cursed with winning the hearts of every woman who dares look him in the eye (so, pretty much every woman in the kingdom). If he doesn’t find true love before his 21st birthday, all love will disappear. So when slippery thief Lenore appears and immediately seems to steal his heart but is not bewitched by him, he’s more than a little intrigued. Lenore, on thin ice with just about everyone for stealing their stuff, sees a way out: if she takes the prince to Fire Mountain (where he must choose one of the three princesses to marry), she’ll be rewarded by the princesses guardians. She poses as a mustachioed man named Lenny and embarks on the journey with Charming, and so begins their adventure, one full of magic, mystery, and mayhem. Will they fall in love? Can Charming save the state of romance in the world forever? Time is short and nothing is quite as it seems in this new take on an old tale. Directed and written by Ross Venokur, the film is a musical comedy that features a new take on the stories we know and love. However, the idea may be nice, the narration is faulty at many junctions. The story itself has too many loopholes. While it’s a musical, the songs are average and the animation too falters as compared to other top names appearing these days. This is not a new release though only now it has come in English. Charming was released in Spain on April 20, 2018. The film then premiered in Europe and Africa throughout the year and now has made a debut on Netflix. It’s a good movie to pass time, but in case you have something better to do, then better do that.
