Pune surpasses Mumbai to register most cases in India Pune For the first time since the outbreak of the Coronavirus, any other city has recorded more numbers of infections than Mumbai. Pune has crossed the Maharashtra capital by registering more than 1,37,000 cases while Mumbai has recorded more than 1,31,000 cases. Looking at the population difference between the two cities, this is a cause of concern for both the state and the municipal governments. India recorded more than 70,000 cases in one day, a record till now, out of which 13,000 alone were from Maharashtra. The country’s total tally has gone beyond 27,00,000. Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Andhra and Karnataka continue to record high numbers. Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh both have crossed 3,00,000 figure. Looking at the grim condition of the outbreak, it’s still now clear if the country would be over lockdown fully in the coming month. Schools and colleges are still not opened even as online classes continue. Worldwide, Germany and France and other European countries may see a surge in numbers as tourists start coming and citizens get back home. The US still has the highest number of cases. It has recorded more than 54,00,000 infections and more than 1,70,000 deaths till now. Brazil stands second with more than 35,00,000 cases, while India is third. Russia, South Africa, Peru and Mexico have all recorded more than 5,00,000 cases. Despite a few early promises in the development of vaccines, the number of cases are on the rise in the world. The danger of second wave and the recurrence of infection has not been denied by any health agency.
