Uddhav Thackeray is the Maharashtra CM
After an eventful week, Uddhav Thackeray became the new chief minister of Maharashtra with the help of Congress and NCP.
Devendra Fadnavis who took oath as the CM had to resign because he couldn’t prove majority in the state assembly.
BJP and Shiv Sena broke their alliance after the elections on the issue of chief minister post. Sena wanted to have the post for half the tenure of the government (2.5 years). But BJP said they never agreed to the sharing of the post.
As Shiv Sena joined hands with rivals Congress and NCP, BJP too formed government with Ajit Pawar, nephew of NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
Ajit Pawar claimed that he had the support of few NCP legislators and was even sworn in as deputy CM while Fadnavis became the chief minister. But they couldn’t prove the majority and has to resign.
