Empathy: Veteran granddad helps raise millions for Coronavirus Veteran granddad helps raise millions for Coronavirus Bedfordshire We all want to contribute against the fight with Coronavirus, in whatever way possible. So when a veteran who fought in World War 2 decided to raise money through his ‘walkathon’ he was expecting some £1000 pounds (almost Rs95,000). But the 99-year-old grandad was in for a surprise. Tom Moore announced a ‘walkathon’ to help Britain's National Health Service (NHS) staff, and the veteran has managed to raise millions from donors worldwide in less than two weeks, and the money is still pouring in at unprecedented rates. Moore joined with a fundraising campaign on JustGiving.com. Entitled "Captain Tom Moore's 100 Birthday Walk for the NHS," it outlined his desire to raise money for the worthy cause by walking 100 laps of his 27-yard garden in Bedfordshire, England, before his 100th birthday on April 30, 2020. Now he has been able to raise more than £15,800,000 (around Rs 1,48,50,56,000).
